Alternative approaches to teacher-written corrective feedback in writing classes (PP124), Paper
‘To correct or not to correct’ language learners’ linguistic errors has been a source of dispute among L2 writing researchers and practitioners since John Truscott (1996) claimed that “grammar correction has no place in writing courses and should be abandoned” (p. 328). This presentation reviews alternative approaches to teacher written corrective feedback that recognize the learner’s active engagement in eliciting feedback and acting upon it to minimize the occurrence of errors in their work.
