Khadija is an in-service teacher trainer and adviser working for the Ministry of Education, Oman. She trains English teachers, follows up impact of training, and advises and supports EFL regional teacher trainers. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Exeter,UK.

The presentation will focus on the findings of a study that explored reasons behind Omani EFL teachers’ decisions to pursue teaching as a career. The findings reveal that females and more experienced people were more motivated to enter this profession in comparison to males and younger people. Policies and practices related to teacher recruitment and selection as well as other recommendations for educational policy makers and practitioners will be explored and discussed.
